Residence Ben Ashour, 2023

Located in Ben Ashour, Tripoli, Residence Ben Ashour is conceived as a contemporary residential development shaped by climate-responsive design principles. The project responds to Libya’s environmental conditions through a carefully articulated massing strategy that improves solar control, natural ventilation, and overall living comfort. By integrating passive design solutions with a refined architectural language, the development establishes a balanced relationship between environmental performance and everyday residential life.

Variations in floor plates, setbacks, and horizontal articulation moderate direct solar exposure while creating shaded outdoor spaces and adding depth to the façade. The composition balances environmental performance with a calm urban presence, resulting in a residential identity that is both contemporary and contextually responsive.

At the heart of the project, a central gallery organizes circulation and shared living spaces. Natural daylight, vertical openness, and integrated landscape elements define the common areas, creating visual continuity across multiple levels while maintaining clear and intuitive circulation. The spatial organization prioritizes comfort, clarity, and a strong connection between interior and exterior environments.

Photovoltaic panels are strategically integrated into the layered roofscape, serving both as an energy-generating system and as a defining architectural feature. The roof structure simultaneously provides shading, supports passive cooling, and contributes to the building’s overall environmental efficiency, demonstrating the integration of sustainable technology within a contemporary residential expression.
