Issyk Kul Holiday Resort
self sufficient vacation
Issyk Kul Holiday Resort, 2017
Issyk Kul (lake Issyk) is the seventh deepest lake in the world, and is among the largest 25 with its 178km length and 64 km width. It is surrounded by the Tian Shan Mountain Range, which grants the lake generous views throughout the year. The name Issyk, meaning "warm" in Kyrgyz language, accounts for the mild weather that renders it an ideal location for living in all seasons.
The location serves as a multi-national tourism attraction serving not only people from Kyrgyzsthan, but also from the neighboring countries as well as overseas travelers. The site provides various social activities required to connect people from different ages and backgrounds. The scheme organizes housing units in a vehicle-free zone, and groups social activities on a "main street", allowing for increased interaction between the residents. The design features housing alternatives ranging from single bedroom units to individual villas to accommodate various user groups both during summer and during winter. The ambitious project aims to become a role model for a self-sustaining experience and draw international attention to the natural beauty of the region.
